I can't believe it's almost been a whole year since Ava was born in February. It got all sorts of crazy, which is why I stopped updating the blog. I'm not going to worry about themes or posting regularly, but I am finally starting to get some down time and I was thinking it'd be nice to start posting again. So here I am!

Hey guys! It's been kinda a rough week. Have just been feeling really off and I can't sleep. Food doesn't sound good unless it's smothered in cheese, the house is a mess, and I'm barely remembering to feed/water my animals. Just one of those weeks!
I also haven't walked at all, I'm supposed to be doing 30 min a day with the hubby. I was a super bad mamma this week. But this next week we will do better! How far along? 9+1 Total weight gain/loss? Forgot to weigh-in this week. Oh well! Maternity clothes? Same as before Stretch marks? Nothing new. I did start using an in-shower body lotion, though. Sleep? Difficult on the good days. If it isn’t heartburn, its stuffy nose. If it isn’t stuffy nose, it’s the cats. If it isn’t the cats, its NO GOOD REASON BUT I STILL CAN’T SLEEP! Best moment this week? My husband and I basically slept all week. I watched a lot of Netflix in the recliner. Miss Anything? Not having to think of another being inside of me every time I try to plan a vacation, eat food, or desire a nice, strong drink. Movement? Nope Food cravings? Cheese. I want grilled cheese, cheesy breakfast burritos, quesadillas, ANYTHING smothered in cheese. Anything making you queasy or sick? Certain smells, yogurt, and changing the bunnies’ litter boxes. Have you started to show yet? Nope Gender? Hoping for boy. Excited for the week 10 baking soda test! Labor Signs? No! Belly Button in or out? In Wedding rings on or off? On Happy or Moody most of the time? Super moody this week due to lack of sleep. And I haven’t been hydrating like I should. Looking forward to? 10 week baking soda test and the blessed 2 trimester. How far along? 8+1
Total weight gain/loss? -8lbs from last week* Maternity clothes? Same Stretch marks? No new ones Sleep? I’m on a third shift schedule now, and can’t find the ability to sleep long enough or stay awake long enough to switch back. So I’m just embracing it! Sleep has been better, but that worries me. I slept through the ‘night’ just now L Best moment this week? Going to see the fireworks at Soaring Eagle! Miss Anything? Not having heartburn, brie, yogurt, and queso. Movement? Nope Food cravings? Mexican food, I NEED IT Anything making you queasy or sick? Still can’t have yogurt and super sensitive to smells Have you started to show yet? Nope Gender? Chinese chart thing says boy! Labor Signs? Nope Belly Button in or out? In Wedding rings on or off? On Happy or Moody most of the time? A bit more moody this week. Looking forward to? My next ultrasound. I’m also hoping my symptoms return. This pregnancy hasn't been too full of bad symptoms, so when the few I do have start disappearing it scares the crap out of me. *I am overweight so the absurdly healthier food I'm eating and daily walks would naturally lead to some weight loss. Don't worry, I -am- eating appropriate calories and taking a prenatal. How far along? Week 7
Total weight gain/loss: -3lbs Maternity clothes? Pants/Leggins/Underwear! I don’t like anything tight around my waist. Stretch marks? No new ones yet. Sleep: Horrible. Up all night, and when I do try, I have heartburn or bathroom breaks waking me up. Best moment this week: Well, this last week we saw baby on US and saw the heartbeat! Miss Anything? Yogurt, sleep, and the occasional drink. Movement: Nope Food cravings: Hard Tacos, Enchiladas, and Veggies Sandwich from Subway. Anything making you queasy or sick: Random smells, gross sights, and yogurt. Have you started to show yet: Nope Gender: Chinese chart says boy ;) Labor Signs: No Belly Button in or out? In Wedding rings on or off? On Happy or Moody most of the time: 50/50 Looking forward to: The next ultrasound on July 24, Hubby’s bday! And by more, I literally me...more! I'm pregnant! Yeah, we definitely ended up with more of a schedule change than I anticipated. But what a wonderful surprise to have!
My husband and I were not 'not' trying since the day we married. We knew we wanted children soon, and I had been told I most likely would not conceive without a doctor's assistance. The problem is, they don't like to provide that assistance until you've been trying for at least a year or two. This is a rainbow baby for us. We lost our first baby in January of 2013 after conceiving in early December 2012. We continued to stay off BC, but used a family planning method to avoid pregnancy as I wasn't ready to go through that again. Eventually we returned to the 'not paying attention' method and I became worried. When we started looking into doctor-assisted methods, we decided that we didn't want to start off our child's life in even more debt then we already had (house/student loans). We began to start to come to terms with a life without children of our own. Two months later, I peed on a stick and BOOM! Preggo! I didn't feel comfortable enough to write about anything until we passed the 7 week mark. That's when we lost our first baby. But here we are, week 8! It hasn't been a stress-free first few weeks, that's for sure. The dates don't quite line up with anything. I'm two weeks earlier according to the ultrasound vs. the LMP. However, I tested positive on the stick on May 31...which puts me at like, 3 days passed fertilization....which is almost impossible. I had some bleeding around what we -thought- was week 6 so I went into the doctor and he did an ultrasound. We didn't see anything; not a baby, not a yolk or fetal pole, not even a gestational sac. Thinking I should be at 6 weeks along, this was a major concern. I was scheduled for two blood tests to measure the rise in HCG and another ultrasound in two weeks. My levels did come back as lower than expected, but rising as per a normal pregnancy. However, it could still be ectopic, a blighted ovum, or even a missed miscarriage. I was a nervous wreck, I even had a full-blown panic attack the morning before the second ultrasound. Thankfully, the morning of our second ultrasound, my husband was able to come with me to provide support. I am so glad he was there because it was the first time we saw our baby! Little blip was in there, with a beautiful little heartbeat. He/she measured at 6+4 (that's 6 weeks, 4 days for those of you out of the preggo internet slang loop). I totally blubbered and freaked out the whole time. It was great. Never has a grainy picture reminiscent of the early days of home video games ever looked so beautiful and amazing to me. I am officially 8+1 today, and a little scared because a couple of my preggo symptoms have gone away. But I just try to stay positive and keep taking care of myself! I started a pregnancy questionnaire that I will do weekly and I'm going to be posting them here along with anything else I find interesting :) Thanks for reading! A lot has been going on and my involvement in some "real world" programs is changing my schedule. I have a more difficult time than most people in adjusting to new schedules so please bear with me as I find my new routine! The daily check-ins may be on hold a bit, but I'll still be here with the meal plans. Speaking of, the spinach dip was really good - I'm actually making the pasta tonight, so we'll see how that goes!
Thank you for your patience! I'm excited to get started on the weekly product reviews as well as monthly Cooking with Jes blogs, so look for those to be starting soon! I'm excited for this week's meal plan!
Friday: Venison Spaghetti Sat: Chicken Burritos Sunday: BLTM Sandwiches with Mac n' Cheese Monday: Chicken Florentine with Spinach Dip Tuesday: Chicken and CousCous Wednesday: Night out The Chicken Florentine recipe can be found here. The Spinach Dip recipe can be found here. Moving to the day shift!Well, looks like I'm rejoining the daylighters! Kind of, anyway. I'll be sleeping from 4am to noon instead of 10am - 6pm. To effectively complete my household duties, as well as interact with the real world (and local new friends) I need to be awake during the daylight hours. Sunday's will be rough as I need to be awake around 8am, but that's alright! I'm not going to a true day time schedule because I need time with Hubster out of the house to get chores done. This schedule gives me plenty of daytime as well as a good 5-6 hours to work on house stuff. Besides, I'm just SO much more of a night owl! It kinda sucks not sleeping in bed with my husband, but it's alright. Besides, his snoring has gotten so bad I'm not sleeping anyway! Hahahaha! Domo updateDomo is getting her stitches out tomorrow. Even better, she and Midna are getting along like nothing ever happened. It's been a stressful 2 weeks with them fighting and Domo being confined to the bedroom (that was so she wouldn't pull her stitches). All the animals are happy and healthy, and that makes me happy! Blog and House ProjectsI'm having difficulties in filming the product reviews. The camera is just requiring more light than I'm able to create with my current setup. I may end up doing some lower quality videos using the iPhone until I can invest in some good lighting for true HD videos. This really bothers me, but I think at this point it's more important to get some content up and running!
The house project is coming along slowly but surely! I ordered some hanging files and my label maker and I've been collecting all our important documents to put in our fire box safe. We have a small lockbox fire safe for objects like jewelry, keys, and photos and a larger safe for all our paper documents. After all those paper documents are collected and filed, I'll also be scanning them into my computer for cloud storage and on a thumb drive in the smaller lock box. If our house were ever on fire or something, we'd grab the smaller one as it will have digital copies of everything in case the other box doesn't survive the fire or other disaster. Is your family prepared for that kind of emergency? If not, I highly suggest you get that together. It's so easy to put off, but don't do it! That's why I made it at the top of my priority list for the house. I've also cleared out our two three-drawer plastic things to make room for craft supplies, office supplies, computer electronics, bills/mailing supplies, writing utensils, etc. I definitely needed to get this part done so I can put things like my label maker away when I'm done with them. Otherwise, I'd just be replacing one mess with another! The closet in the bathroom is also underway, but I decided I don't want to keep my towels in there. The shelves are very shallow and I'm not wanting to deal with them constantly falling. Instead, I'll be using some bins in conjunction with our Closetmaid Cubeicals just outside the bathroom door. Right now we have books in that space, but I just ordered two of the Closetmaid 6-shelf organizers that will go in the giant empty space behind the recliner in the living room. I'll move the books there, and I'll put the folded towels in the bins next to the bathroom door. I'm excited for this update, can't wait for the shelves to get here! Now is a great time to finish up your indoor projects. Trust me, when all this snow melts you will not want to be inside filing paperwork! Ciao! Like I said in my daily check-in, my label maker came today and I just had way too much fun checking out all the different settings. I'll be doing a product review on it once I've completed my house organization project so I can give you a knowledgeable review! Here's a quick video of how I tested my new gadget! That's Midna there, she's such a good guinea pig! My label maker came in today, and this fills me with so much happiness! The cats, however, are less than enthused. Of course, this means I didn't do any chores that didn't involve this wonderful gadget!
Today I: Made the labels for our fire safety box (it has hanging folders) and organized all the papers that had previously been stuffed in there. I haven't gathered all the papers I need yet, but it's getting there. Made the labels for the entertainment unit, it's so pretty! Spent way too much time doing my nails and whatnot, I'm working on product review videos right now. Labeled the cats and Hubster. The cats actually had their labels on longer than the human! I think |
