Hey everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Valentine's day/President's day celebrations. As you can see, Midna is just completely exhausted from the weekend! I had such a nice break from cleaning and whatnot with my husband staying home. I'm totally paying for it now, but it was worth it. Hubster and I had a wonderful splurge of a dinner at Red Lobster (the dueling lobster tails were delish!). After that, we just enjoyed staying at home for a weekend. He works seven days a week, so it was a "splurge" to have him home for a weekend. We watched TV, played video games, kept up with the latest Next Great Starship episodes from Star Citizen (super excited for this game to release!), and just had a great time relaxing.
The kitchen was an absolute disaster, but I spent all tonight working hard on it. I've been spending a lot of time watching Clean My Space's videos and I'm loving all her cleaning methods. I was really wanting to deodorize my kitchen, not just clean, and using the 50/50 water and vinegar to sanitize really works. I did add some drops of lavender essential oil to the mix; I found it helped cut the vinegar smell while I was cleaning. By the time I was done, there was no vinegar smell at all. I'd like to point out it is WINTER so I did not have any windows/doors open. If your kitchen has a unique odor, try spraying everything down with this solution, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and wipe clean. Don't forget to use a cleaning brush (old toothbrush) to clean the rubber flaps going into your disposal. If you have leftover citrus, drop it into your garbage disposal to freshen that up too (if not, pour some vinegar and warm water into it). The vinegar will sanitize your kitchen as well as truly deodorize it. My kitchen smells wonderfully of nothing!
Food wise, I made chicken fajita quesadillas (as opposed to the regular ones I had on the meal plan) a night or two ago and they were so good I had one for lunch tonight! I'm getting better about actually eating leftovers. I have a bad habit of skipping lunch and realizing as Hubster gets home from work that I'm absolutely famished. This doesn't lend itself to the best of food choices for breakfast (remember, we eat Dinner/Lunch/Breakfast most days, because we're 3rd shift and cool like that).
My tripod finally came in so now I can work on setting up an adequate filming space to work on product review videos! I'll let you know more when I'm ready to fully move on to that phase. I like the idea of weekly product reviews being a focus outside of my daily rambles, I think that is something that can really be helpful for others and I think it's fun! I also enjoy cooking/baking posts, but that isn't going to be regular. I'll be doing those as we try out new foods. If I like it enough, I'll make it a post when I cook it a second time and can get pictures/video.
Well, not much else to say about the weekend, except that I'm ready for spring. I'm getting some serious cabin fever, guys! Stay warm out there!
Ciao!
